From the arrivals hall to the heart of the Accursed Mountains — waterfalls, stone towers and the most dramatic valley in Albania.
Theth is the Albania that hikers dream about: a glacial valley deep in the Accursed Mountains, with a lock-in tower, the Grunas waterfall, the Blue Eye of Theth and the trailhead of the famous Theth–Valbona pass. Since the road over Qafë Thore was fully paved, you no longer need an off-roader — you need a driver who knows the mountain, and ours drive it all season.
We run north to Shkodër, then climb through Boga as the peaks close in, cresting the Thore pass before the long descent into the valley. Count on about 3 hours 30 minutes with a photo stop at the pass — the view down the valley is the best in the Albanian north.
From late spring to autumn the road is straightforward. In winter the pass can close after snowfall, so tell us your dates and we'll confirm conditions before you fly. Morning departures make the most of the light and leave your afternoon free for a first hike.
