Sarandë is the capital of the Albanian Riviera: the ferry gateway to Corfu, the base for Ksamil's white beaches, and the liveliest promenade in the south. It is also one of the longest transfers from Tirana Airport — which is exactly why a private car makes sense. Shared minibuses take five to six hours with changes in the city; our drivers do it door to door while you sleep off the flight.
The standard route follows the A2 motorway south past Fier, then climbs through the Vjosa river valley beneath Tepelenë and over the Muzina Pass, dropping toward the sea with Corfu on the horizon. It's a comfortable, mostly dual-carriage drive of about 3 hours 45 minutes. In summer, ask for the coastal alternative over the Llogara Pass instead — it adds around an hour but delivers the most photographed road in Albania.
The Blue Eye spring (Syri i Kaltër) sits ten minutes off the road near Muzina — most of our Sarandë guests stop there for half an hour, and it costs nothing extra to arrange. Gjirokastër's UNESCO old town is also en route if you want to break the trip properly.

By default we drive the faster inland route. If you'd like the scenic coastal road through Dhërmi and Himara, ask when booking — it takes about an hour longer.
